The RAAs and Infrastructure Deployment Optimisation Tool is a proof of concept (PoC) designed to demonstrate and enable the identification of Renewable Acceleration Areas (RAAs) and optimise the deployment of renewable energy infrastructure within these zones. Developed in alignment with the EU’s RED III Directive, the tool leverages advanced geospatial analysis and integrates Copernicus products and services to facilitate data-driven decision-making for renewable energy planning.
RAAs are critical for accelerating the deployment of renewable energy projects. By streamlining permitting processes and focusing on areas with high potential and minimal environmental impact, RAAs play a pivotal role in achieving the EU’s ambitious climate and energy goals. This tool serves as an innovative platform to identify these zones, evaluate their feasibility, and optimise the integration of solar and wind energy infrastructure while ensuring sustainability.
