HANDHELD
Handheld device with innovative compact antenna for professional GNSS applications

Background & Objectives

No single handheld device exists today that provides high-end professional GNSS positioning.

Why this project is important for EGNOS/GSA/SatNav?

The breadth of market access that the new product will command will open up new markets for GNSS.

Description

It does the same as classical survey equipment (high-end antenna, pole, receiver and controller), but integrated in one portable device.

Objectives

The objective of the project is to develop a portable standalone system to harvest the possibilities of precise positioning offered by the Galileo system. This includes the development of an innovative GNSS antenna with electronically adjustable matching, controlled by the receiver, and strong filtering to avoid auto-interference from the Bluetooth and WLAN transceivers in the PDA.

Next Steps

Optimising the design, developing a prototype and its validation.
