She played a classical piano concert in Austria to promote the benefits of EGNOS and Galileo. Now, visitors to Galileo Application Days in Brussels will get a chance to hear the talented Elena Misirkova, on 4 March at 19:15 following the event’s networking reception at the event’s Application Village.
Misirkova’s Galileo Concert in Brussels will feature compositions by Werner Pirchner (Austria), Frederic Chopin (Poland) and Vlastimir Nikolovski (Macedonia) played on a Bösendorfer grand piano.
Elena Misirkova will play a classical piano concert at Galileo Application Days. © Elena MisirkovaMisirkova is the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia’s cultural ambassador in Austria, where the first Galileo Concert was held on 27 October last year as an alternative way of promoting the benefits of Europe’s satellite navigation programmes.
The event in Vienna attracted 330 people to the Austrian Academy of Sciences building. It was seen as a means of connecting technology with the arts and culture to draw a broader range of people to information events about EGNOS and Galileo.
Misirkova, an internationally renown Macedonian-Austrian pianist, has made CD recordings and played at concerts in Russia, Italy, Sweden, Hungary, Slovenia, Ukraine, USA, Macedonia and Austria. Misirkova was born in Skopje. A fellowship allowed her to study piano at the Gnessin Music Academy in Moscow with Prof. Alexander Satz. She has lived in Vienna since 1989.
The networking reception is part of a series of events being held during Galileo Application Days (3-5 March) to help entrepreneurs and businesses connect. These include business ‘speed meetings’, elevator pitches and a workshop emphasising the commercial development of innovative products and services.
Galileo Application Days, 3-5 March, features live demonstrations of cutting-edge applications and services developed to exploit the global satellite navigation systems (GNSS), in addition to kicking off the 2010 European Satellite Navigation Competition.
The event is hosted by the European Commission and is organised by the GSA and the Application Centre for Satellite Navigation in Oberpfaffenhofen.
It will take place at the Charlemagne Conference Centre in Brussels and will feature a unique ‘Applications Village’ outside the Berlaymont Building, the headquarters of the European Commission.
The Application Village, the first ever, features over 2,000m² of public displays of live demonstrations of Galileo and EGNOS in action.
