EUSPA launches #myEUspace competition, more space for EU innovation and entrepreneurs

The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) launches #myEUspace competition. The EU prize contest targets innovators and entrepreneurs ready to explore, develop and commercialise innovative solutions that leverage EU Space data and services, going beyond the current space-applications horizon, and fusing and testing new technologies in location-based services, smart mobility, smart agriculture, geomatics, and for the first-time, quantum technologies.

Today the Agency officially becomes the European Union Agency for the Space Programme, EUSPA, marking the start of a new era for the EU Space Programme. Building on the legacy of the European GNSS Agency, EUSPA will take on more responsibilities to create even more opportunities for EU citizens and the economy.

EU Space Regulation ready to take off with the creation of the EUSPA

The Agency welcomes the European Parliament's position expressed today, confirming the political agreement on the Space Regulation reached in December 2020 and the creation of the European Union Agency for the Space Programme. The EU Space Programme, with the largest budget ever for Space - €14.88 billion, encompasses all EU space activities under one roof and will allow for an effective and efficient contribution to the priorities of the European agenda.

EGNOS Safety of Life: Serving aviation for 10 years

The European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) Safety of Life (SoL) Service is celebrating its 10th Anniversary. Since it was declared operational in March 2011, the EGNOS SoL Service has been supporting civil aviation operations down to LPV (Localiser Performance with Vertical guidance) minima at airports across Europe.

After a lively debate, the jury has selected the winning teams in both competitions based not only on their innovative use of key Galileo differentiators, but also on their market-oriented approach and potential for wide uptake.
