Celebrate two decades of EU Space during Open Days

On November 22 and 23, EUSPA Headquarters in Prague will open its doors to the public for an exclusive look at the Agency’s mission and the EU Space Programme, celebrating a shared 20-year journey.

EUSPA Open Days 2024 are on. The two-day event is organised so the public can learn more about our agency and what we do in #EUSpace! This year’s edition will feature several captivating activities, such as interactive Augmented Reality experiences, cryptography games and a treasure hunt. Throughout the event, our team of experts will inform visitors from the public, showcasing the many ways in which EU Space impacts our daily lives.

"As we celebrate two decades of EU Space, EUSPA is thrilled to open our doors to the public and share our journey of innovation and growth from our headquarters in Prague. This event is a unique opportunity to experience firsthand how the EU Space Programme impacts our daily lives and to engage with the future of space technology. We invite everyone to join us in Prague to explore the exciting world of EU Space and discover how we are driving sustainable growth and security for Europe," says EUSPA Executive Director Rodrigo da Costa.

EUSPA's journey began in 2004, with a major step while moving the Headquarters in Prague in 2012 and evolved over the years, culminating in its rebranding as EUSPA in 2021 to encompass a broader mission and new responsibilities within the EU Space Programme. Today, EUSPA provides secure European satellite navigation services, advances the commercialization of space data, and supports EU priorities, ensuring innovation, security, and sustainable growth for European citizens and companies.
To mark its 20th anniversary this year, EUSPA is excited to introduce a Time Tunnel during Open Days 2024. This captivating 3D experience invites you to explore the Agency’s history and experience an interesting way to look at the evolution of EU Space.

The programme also includes various activities for kids, such as building their model of an actual Galileo, EGNOS or Copernicus satellite to take home, a treasure hunt journey and other fun challenges, as well as learning about the applications of the EU´s Global Navigation Satellite System Galileo to win EUSPA prizes. They can also try the flight simulator, play a memory game or visit the kids’ corner.

Nearly 800 students will be welcomed on Friday. Experts from the Agency will deliver a session on the European Union Space Programme. For those who prefer to come individually, EUSPA also offers sessions on Friday at 4.00 pm and 5.00 pm and throughout Saturday between 10 am and 5 pm. A Career Corner will also feature talks on job opportunities and insights from EUSPA staff.

The event is free of charge and will take place at the EUSPA headquarters in Prague, located at Janovského 438/2, 170 00 Praha 7-Holešovice. More details on the website: https://www.euspa.europa.eu/opendays
