CORDIS - Horizon Europe projects
The new CORDIS Results Pack showcases EUSPA Horizon Europe projects driving resilient, sustainable and smarter mobility through innovative, market-ready applications of EU space data and services.

The European Commission has released a new CORDIS Results Pack spotlighting 11 EUSPA-funded Horizon Europe projects advancing the space downstream market. The featured initiatives demonstrate how EU space technologies are being translated into innovative, market-ready solutions that strengthen Europe’s resilience, sustainability and mobility.

From emergency response and environmental management to autonomous transport, these projects show how research and innovation are delivering tangible benefits for society while creating new commercial opportunities across Europe in a fast-evolving environment.

New entrants, SMEs and specialised innovators are using space data in new ways: delivering emergency alerts when terrestrial networks fail, improving renewable energy forecasting, enabling precision water management, and supporting autonomous navigation in complex environments. As demand grows, so does the need for solutions that are accurate, reliable and ready for commercial deployment. The projects included in the pack demonstrate that R&I remains a critical pillar of EU Space in addressing concrete societal and economic challenges.

On the theme of resilience, AWARE demonstrates how Galileo’s Emergency Warning Satellite Service (EWSS) can deliver alerts even when terrestrial networks are disrupted, ensuring that citizens receive critical information through multiple channels. Similarly, OVERWATCH and BUILDSPACE explore how Copernicus satellite data can support emergency responders, infrastructure monitoring and urban resilience, helping authorities anticipate risks and act faster. Beyond Galileo and Copernicus, EUSPA projects such as GEXTRECS have demonstrated how secure, interoperable satellite communications can strengthen Europe’s crisis response by ensuring resilient connectivity and improved coordination for first responders.

EUSPA projects can turn green transition tools into commercialisation opportunities. Projects such as SWIM and SWIFTT demonstrate how multi-sensor data fusion can deliver real-time insights into water quality, drought risks and forest ecosystem health, helping, among others, insurance companies develop parametric insurance policies. Another EUSPA project called RESPONDENT supports Europe’s shift to renewable energy by integrating Copernicus and Galileo data into grid management systems.

Beyond Europe, projects like COMUNIDAD bring Copernicus data and Services to international partners empowering their local communities to manage natural resources more effectively.

As mobility systems become more automated, connected and data-driven, the need for precise, reliable positioning grows. Galileo services are central to this transformation. The brochure includes examples from projects like EGeNiouSS, which advances visual localisation to support navigation in dense urban environments, where satellite signals become degraded. Another project, EDGAR offers robust systems to complement existing air navigation services, improving safety and airport capacity. Finally, SPATRA explores new applications for multimodal transport, helping to keep ground transport moving on road and rail.

While the EUSPA Horizon Europe projects continue to advance and deliver more results, and outcomes are becoming evident.

“The results showcased in this pack confirm the strength of Europe’s space downstream ecosystem and its capacity to address real-world challenges. By continuing to support innovators throughout their journey to market, EUSPA is helping ensure that EU Space remains a driver of competitiveness, resilience and sustainable growth for Europe,” concluded Fiammetta Diani, EUSPA Head of Market Downstream and Innovation.
